To support and enhance projects, programs, and activities for talented and motivated youth of our communities and to provide an appropriate competitive forum for the display of their talents in the performing and visual arts.
Talent Hunt Program
Talent Hunt Program is one of the mandated programs for The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. The fraternity is dedicated to enhancing culture through the arts. The vision is the development of youth in the performing and visual arts. It's the mission to support and enhance projects, programs, activities for talented and motivated youth in the performing and visual arts.
Goals:

To sponsor projects to enhance the fine arts programs at under-resourced schools.

To sponsor programs for young artists to participate in developmental activities related to presenting their talents, marketing their talents, and participating in relevant workshops (e.g., portfolio development, recording and production, appropriate artistic attire, stage presence and presentation, artistic adjudication, and critique, choreography, etc.), that will provide them with skills for moving their careers to higher levels of entertainment and exposing them to a variety of entities related to different genres of the arts.

To provide grants and other support for high school students who participate in various forms of the performing and visual arts.

To generate funds via fundraisers, grants, contributions, legacies, and corporate sponsorships for support of the International Talent Hunt Program.

Talent Hunt Program
We are pleased to announce that our annual Talent Hunt program is forthcoming, and we extend invitations to all high school students to demonstrate their unique talents and skills. We seek talented and motivated youth within our community to exhibit their artistic abilities in a suitable competitive platform for showcasing their talents in both performing and visual arts.

Contemporary Instrumental, Contemporary Vocal, Dramatic Interpretation, Classical Instrumental, Classical Vocal, Jazz Instrumental, Gospel Vocal, Dance and Visual Arts (drawings, paintings, sculptures etc.)
WHEN: Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 10AM
Doors open up at 8:30AM

WHERE: Neptune Middle School, Neptune, NJ

PARTICIPANTS: All participants must be from either Monmouth or Ocean County and in grades 9-12.

Amya Johnson Ashe
2022 Phi Upsilon Talent Hunt Contest Winner
Amya Ashe is a senior at Monmouth Regional High School in Monmouth County, NJ where she is an A/B Honors, High Honors student and on the Honors Society. Her favorite subjects are American Literature and Social studies. Amya is a part of the Student Council, Diversity Council and a community organization TRIU2U (True to You) which stands for “The Rest is up to US'' and even started her own club sophomore year called '' Embrace your Ethnicity club.” She currently has the lead role in her high school Musical "Little Shop of Horror."

Upon graduating in 2022, she plans on attending one of her top five schools and majoring in Political Science, with a minor in Music. Her top schools are North Carolina A&T University, Howard University, Clark Atlanta University, Delaware State University and Florida A&M University. Attending an HBCU
is one of her biggest dreams and becoming an alumna would be one of her greatest accomplishments in life.

She joined the choir at her home church Calvary Baptist, in Red Bank, New Jersey at the age of five. Amya's passion for singing has enabled her to compete not only in this talent show, but in the McDonald's Gospelfest for three seasons - a talent show held at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The opportunity has given Amya the privilege of performing on the same stage as many famous people, such as Donnie McClurkin, Cissy Houston, and Fantasia.

Amya is a proud black, smart, and talented girl that has many goals in
life. She says, 'I could not have been here if it wasn't for Christ who is the head of my life, my parents, my siblings, my grandparents, and everyone who supports me.' One day she hopes to have her talents reach the industry. She believes that if it is in the will of God and continues to have faith in Him, anything is possible.
Amaya Johnson Ashe - High School Events
Amay Johnson Ashe is Phi Upsilon Talent Hunt 1st place winner. She performed in her high school musical "The Little Shop of Horror" where she has the lead role as Audrey II. Amaya did a fantastic job in her 1st high school musical. Brothers from Phi Upsilon was not only in attendance, but presented her with her award for placing 1st in Phi Upsilon Talent Hunt Show.
College Years
North Carolina A&T
Amya is a freshman a professional theater major at North Carolina A&T State University, where she finds herself currently on the Dean's list. This is her 3rd performance with the award winning Richard b Harrison (The Soul of Christmas, Dearly Departed) she intends to pursue a career acting on broadway, tv, and film.
Amya, as a freshman, is performing in North Carolina A&T performance of the hit movie DreamGirls and has landed the star role of Effie White. Amya is amazing, please take the time and enjoy Amya's performance as Effie.
